Book Review #1: Speak

Post by Blackandwhitekitty on Sat Nov 20, 2010 6:48 pm

Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson
Speak is the story of a young girl, Melinda, starting highschool, having lost all her friends at the end of the year before. She had called the cops on a party, but not because there was under age drinking. At the party, Melinda was broken* but she wont tell anybody. Melinda gets picked on, and deals with her neglegtive mother and ignorant father. She only makes friends with 2 people, 1, a new girl, who eventualy abandons her and 2, her art teacher. Anderson has many fabulous books like "Winter Girls", but she really outdid herself with this national bestseller, and award winning book, "Speak". There is a movie out, made in 2004, staring a young Kristen Stewart.

*find out how by reading the book!
