Re: Minecraft
Well, I'll be glad to explain!
Minecraft is one of the most amazing games ever made. You have single-player and multi-player. Multi-player is exactly like single-player, but with other users playing in the same world as you.
Single-player:
Single-Player, Creative:

If you have any questions, be sure to ask me or go and find a tutorial on YouTube! There are MANY great tutorial videos about Minecraft!
Minecraft is one of the most amazing games ever made. You have single-player and multi-player. Multi-player is exactly like single-player, but with other users playing in the same world as you.
Single-player:
- Spoiler:
- When you select single-player, you can make a new world (or continue one if you already made one). You can name the world and then you can select what game mode you want. There are 2 game modes. Survival and Creative. I'll talk about Survival first.
One you've given a name and picked your game mode, you click "Create New Word". Once you click it, the game generates a completely unique world. No one on this planet who plays Minecraft will have the same world as you (unless you know about seeding, but I won't get into that because it's pointless.....). Once your world starts loading, it may lag a lot because its generating your random world. Once its done, you are free to do what ever you want. No boundaries.
- Spoiler:
- You'll first notice your status bars on the bottom of the screen. You have a health bar (represented by hearts), a food bar (represented by meat looking things), experience bar (represented by a long black line under health and food), and later in the game you'll get an armor bar (represented by little chestplate icons). Depending on your difficulty (peaceful, easy, normal, hard), your health can go down slowly if hit (easy), go down a decent amount (normal) or can drastically drop (hard). If on peaceful difficulty mode, all enemies will be taken away from the game, making the game essentially pointless on survival....
You'll also see 9 squares at the bottom. Those are where you put your items to be used. You scroll through them by hitting numbers 1-9 on the keyboard or using the scroll wheel.
I personally play on normal difficulty by the way.
The controls are as follows: Mouse rotates your view. Holding the left click button destroys blocks. Right clicking places blocks/uses your held item. Scroll wheel scrolls through your items in you quick bar (the 9 squares at the bottom). You use WASD to move your player around and use the space bar to jump. Holding shift crouches. You use crouching to approach ledges without falling off to your death.
I think E is now inventory, but for me its the I key. ESC goes to your options menu. And Q drops the item you're holding onto the ground.
- Spoiler:
- Ok, so as you notice, you start with absolutely nothing. Nothing but your bare fist. The first (smart) thing to do is to find the nearest tree. Once you find and approach a tree, use the left mouse button to start beating it down. You have to hold down the button while its being destroyed 'till the block you are hitting is completely destroyed. You know you're doing it right when the block you're hitting starts cracking. So destroy a wood block and ta-da! You have wood. Once you've gotten 1 block of wood, go ahead and keep hitting more wood blocks 'till you have about 3-5. Once you have the wood blocks, the next (smart) thing to do is find a shelter. This shelter won't be permanent, but it needs to be something to hold you over 'till you build an official base of operations for your player to live and thrive in.
Want to know what I do as a first base? I find a hill or a wall of some sort and just dig in. Make a nice little cave.
But if you do this you'll hit 1 problem: stone blocks. If you try destroying stone blocks with your bare hand... have fun. It takes like 30 full seconds to destroy 1 stone block... That's where the wood you've collected earlier comes in handy! Go to your inventory (E or I key) and you see your player, 4 squares to the right of him, and several squares underneath him for storing spare items. The four squares to the right of your player is the crafting area. Take the wood and place it in 1 of the 4 squares to the right of your player. You'll see a single square to the right of the 4 squares. This 1 square shows you what you have crafted using the 4 squares.
In this case, you placed wood in 1 of the 4 squares, creating your wood blocks, into wood planks!
CONGRATULATIONS! You've done your first crafting. You get 4 wood planks for every 1 wood block. Go ahead and convert all of your wood blocks into wood planks.
Now then, you need to do more crafting! Take your wood planks and place 1 wood plank in each of the 4 crafting squares. If you right click, you'll place 1 block at a time instead of the whole stack. You know you've done it right when you've crafted a crafting bench in the single square to the right of the 4 crafting squares!
If all this seems confusing, trust me, its not! But if you still can't keep up, YouTube search instructions. Once you see it done in a video format, you'll go "OOOOOH! Ok, I get it now!"
Anyways, take your newly made crafting bench and place it in one of the 9 quick bar slots at the bottom of the menu. Once you do that, hit the ESC key to exit the inventory menu. Now place your crafting bench anywhere on the ground (using the right click).
I would like to keep instructing you on how to continue from here, but it gets far too complicating to put into words. But, again, video tutorials make it clear as day! In fact, watch this video. He's the guy who got me hooked to Minecraft. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANgI2o_Jinc&list=FL2z6I_anp8YekX9SiPVLpGg&index=1
Single-Player, Creative:
- Spoiler:
- I'll make this short and sweet. If you make a new world on creative game mode, you have unlimited of all blocks and can fly. It called creative for that very reason: it allows you to just endlessly build without the worry of dying, running out of blocks and everything. As awesome as it sounds though, it gets excruciatingly boring. I wouldn't really recommend it...
Multi-Player:
- Spoiler:
- When you finally get the game, be sure to PM me! And I'll play some multi-player with you! I have my own server and everything. It's exactly like single-player, but with multiple people in one world instead of just you by yourself. It's a lot of fun!
If you have any questions, be sure to ask me or go and find a tutorial on YouTube! There are MANY great tutorial videos about Minecraft!

The higher your food bar, the faster you regain lost health.
And if your food bar is at 0 you start to lose health. You starve.

They aren't the only, just the most popular. There's Zombies, Spiders, Cave Spiders, Skeletons, Creepers, Slimes, Endermen, and Silverfish.
And in the Nether (a hell world that you can access after meeting several requirements) there's Ghasts, Zombie Pigmen, and soon there will be 2 others.
To fight a Creeper, the best method is to sprint towards them (double tap the W key) and attack them. This will launch them away from you. Or you can do the most common method: hit and run. Attack and then immediately run the opposite direction. Repeat 'till dead.
Standard Enemies:
- Spoiler:
- Zombies: Mindless drones. They're the easiest enemy. They do nothing but chase you slowly. Just swing away with your sword. No real danger. They burn away in sunlight.
Spiders: These bastards can climb flat walls and are pretty damn quick. You just barely out-run them. They attack by leaping at you. The only good way to fend them off is to attack. They become friendly when exposed to sunlight.
Cave Spiders: They're 100% like a spider, but smaller so they can fit into smaller places. They're found in abandoned mines.
Skeletons: These things are the biggest ass holes... They shoot at you with bows and arrows and with good accuracy. And they can scare the hell out of you because the arrow shooting sound effect is LOUD and SUDDEN. Best way to fight them off is by fighting fire with fire (or arrow with arrow I guess). But you can also slash at them if you feel ballsy! They die in sunlight.
Creepers: These things chase you and when they get within 1 square of you, they puff up, hiss, and then explode. Causing your health bar major damage. If you hear a hiss, just sprint away as far as you can. Best way to fight them was already said. Sunlight does not effect them. They'll always try to kill you, night or day.
Slimes: These enemies are really really rare. Don't expect to see them often. Or at all. I've only seen 2 in all my time ever playing Minecraft. They hop after you. Its like a jumping zombie. They come in several sizes. 4 I think. The big ones turn into small ones once killed. But again, they're super rare. Not affected by sunlight.
Endermen: These enemies were recently added. Fairly common. They don't bother you at all. You can stand right next to them if you want. AS LONG AS you don't put your cursor over them. If you look at them directly with your cursor they will get pissed and chase you VERY quickly. If you get too far away, they teleport after you. They get killed in sunlight and water. Best way to fight them is head on. Just slash away!
Silverfish: These things are so absolutely rare that I have never seen one before. And they're also a recent added monster. But I have cheated to spawn one before. Basically, they disguise themselves as stone blocks. If you destroy the stone block they're hiding as, they'll leap out and attack! They also can climb walls I believe... I'm not 100% sure on that, but all I know is that they aren't really tough. Just small. So they're hard to hit. Just slash 'em. Not affected by sunlight.
Nether Enemies:
- Spoiler:
- Minecraft will update soon (I don't know when exactly) but in the update there will be at least 2 added enemies to the Nether World. So...
Ghasts: These enemies are HUGE and fly. They're arguably the toughest enemy in the game because you have no other choice but to shoot them down with arrows. That, and they shoot fire-balls at you that explode. And there's no sunlight in the Nether so I won't state weather or not sun kills Nether enemies... Ghasts are fire resistant.
It should be an achievement to kill a Ghast with a sword. Which I've done. Like 3 times I think.
Zombie Pigmen: These are human shaped pig people that are zombified! They walk around in groups and carry golden swords. BUT they won't attack you! At all! Unless YOU attack first... Hit 1 though, and all the rest will go after you as well. They are fire resistant. Fight them with swords or bows, your choice.
ENEMIES SOON TO COME TO THE NETHER:
Magma Cubes: They're slimes, but in the Nether. That's basically it... I THINK they're fire resistant, but I'm not sure.
Blazes: I'm actually not sure what they really do... They're like fire wizard things that shoot fire at you... I haven't played the updated version of Minecraft so idk how they behave or what they do... Sorry
While I'm talking about creatures and monsters, Let me tell you about the sh*t that WON'T try to kill you...
Farm Animals:
- Spoiler:
- Cows: If you kill a cow, they will drop 2 kinds of helpful items: Raw beef, and hide. If you put raw beef in the furnace, you cook it into steak! Which fills up your food meter much much more than just raw beef. And hide is used to make leather armor, which is the weakest form of armor. You can also right-click cows while holding an empty bucket to milk them and get milk. Milk as far as I know is only used for cakes... I THINK you can drink it, but idk and idc
Chickens: Kill a chicken and you can get feathers and raw chicken! Feathers are used to make arrows for your bow. And DON'T eat raw chicken. You can poison yourself. Cook it in the furnace to get cooked chicken. Used to fill up your food bar. If you spare the little guy's life, and let them run around for a few minutes, they'll pop out an egg. Eggs can be used for throwing or used to make cake.
Pigs: When a pig is killed, it can drop raw porkchops. Cook the porkchop in the furnace and it will fill up your food bar when eaten! You can put saddles on pigs to ride them, but you have no control... So it's essentially pointless. Besides unlocking an achievement. Ride a pig off of a cliff and get the "When Pigs Fly" achievement.
Sheep: Sheep are used for one thing (like pigs) and that's to get wool. The most helpful thing from wool is to make a bed. You use the bed to skip night time. If you kill the sheep, you only get 1 block of wool... But if you craft shears, and right-click sheep holding the shears, you can get like 4 blocks! 3 blocks of wool are required to make a bed. 3 wool and 3 wood planks = bed.
- Spoiler:
- Squid: In my personal opinion: TOTALLY POINTLESS! They live in the seas and oceans. And do... nothing. Kill them to get ink sacks. Ink sacks are used to dye wool. Dying wool is pointless... Trust me, it's pointless as hell.
Wolves: Wolves won't attack you if you don't attack them. Wolves will attack other animals though. But, if you feed a wolf some bones, you can tame them and they will fight for you! Once you attack an enemy with your sword (or fists) they will leap in and attack whatever you hit. But.... As awesome as it sounds... They're weak as hell... And won't attack creepers... Wolves are widely considered by Minecraft fans as "The most useless update in Minecraft history". And I agree.
Mooshroom: Not in Minecraft yet, but will be added in the next update. They're cows with mushrooms growing off of them. They're red and have big black eyes. If you use shears on them, they will shed off all their mushrooms for you to collect, and turn into normal cows. They're only found in the mushroom biome. If you "milk" the cow by using a wooden bowl, you get mushroom stew, with gives you a small amount of food on your food bar.
Snow Golem: These look so awesome. They aren't in Minecraft yet, but will be added in the next update. You create these little badasses. You take 2 snow blocks and a pumpkin block. Stack the 2 snow blocks one on top of the other. Then add the pumpkin to the top of them and BAM! You've created a living snowman. They act as scapegoats. Meaning: If an enemy comes after you, they will shoot snowballs at the enemy, distracting them away from you, so can run away safely. Snowballs do 0 damage, so they won't kill the enemy. They'll just risk their lives to save you.
Villager: Not an animal, but its a person type thing. I literally know nothing about them. Sorry They aren't in Minecraft yet, but will be in the next update. They're just an NPC to give life to the villages that currently have no one living in them.
I hope that helps!

Just remember that Minecraft will be updating from 1.8 to 1.9 very soon. There's a chance you could be caught in the middle of an update!
But there's always many great tutorial videos on YouTube!
If you look up "Minecraft Seananners" he is the person who got me hooked on Minecraft like some kind of illegal drug!
Although, he plays a much older version of Minecraft. But it's still the same concept! He shows you what you need to get started for the first few videos, and the rest of his videos are just him free playing.
Just remember that at the beginning you need:
Wood to convert to wood planks...
A crafting table to craft more items...
A shelter to hold you over 'till you build a house or base...
Sticks and coal to make torches...
Some food (porkchops, beef, chicken are easiest to get) so you don't starve...
and a furnace to cook food and convert ores into bars.... (iron ore = iron bars, gold ore = gold bars)
After that, you're free to do whatever!
Explore your spawn point!
Or, hell, explore your continent!
Or, f*ck, explore the whole damn world!
Build a house! A mansion! A castle! Anything!
Explore caves!
Get lost in a cave!
If you were to ask me, "What do you think is the main goal of Minecraft?"
I think I'd have to personally say... Find diamonds...
Diamonds are the most rare element and can make diamond gear! Which are the strongest!
Other than that, the ultimate goal is to have fun doing whatever the hell you want.

Re: Minecraft
I know this is double posting, but it's on subject and I feel like it helps
I got extremely bored this morning and decided to make a tutorial video about Minecraft. It uses annotations so don't turn them off! And don't watch them on iPods because iPod YouTube doesn't support annotations...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCXhDbCqf84
It's in 2 parts. Part 2 is in the description of part 1.
I have an audio problem with my screen recorder, so I just over wrote the sound with the Minecraft background music looping. Hope you don't mind.

With a lot of buckets and a lot of exploring, you can
Or sometimes you can get lucky and find above ground lava pits. Then you don't need to explore underground. Normally, lava is deep deep under ground.
And 1 bucket holds 1 square of lava. So if you want a huge lava pit, you'll either need a ton of buckets or make a lot of trips to the lava under ground (or above ground ).
